Overview

Windows-based instances are supported on the VPS platform under specific conditions. Unlike Linux instances, Windows VPS provisioning is not instant and requires manual installation by the FDCServers team.

This article explains:

  • Which plans are eligible for Windows

  • How Windows instances are ordered

  • What provisioning timelines to expect

  • What customers are responsible for (and what they are not)

Eligibility Requirements

Windows VPS instances are available only on R3 plans and larger.

Smaller plans do not meet the resource and licensing requirements for Windows deployments.

⚠️ Important
Orders placed on ineligible plans will be rejected or require plan adjustment before provisioning can begin.

Ordering a Windows VPS

Windows instances can be ordered in one of the following ways:

  • Directly through the client portal (where available), or

  • By contacting the sales or support team for assistance

During ordering:

  • Windows licensing must be purchased through FDCServers

  • Customers cannot supply their own Windows license

  • Customers cannot install Windows themselves

Provisioning Timeline

Windows VPS provisioning is not instant.

What to expect:

  • Windows installations are queued for manual setup

  • Delivery may take up to 72 hours

  • Provisioning time depends on order volume and validation requirements

???? Advanced
Manual provisioning ensures licensing compliance, platform compatibility, and proper configuration of guest tools required for stability and recovery.

Installation & Access

Installation Responsibility

  • Windows installation is performed only by FDCServers team members

  • Customers cannot install Windows via ISO or custom images

  • The operating system is delivered fully installed and configured

Access After Provisioning

Once provisioning is complete:

  • Customers receive full Administrator access

  • Connection details (IP address, credentials) are available in the client portal

  • Remote access is provided using standard Windows methods (e.g., RDP)

Supported Windows Configuration

Windows instances are configured to be compatible with platform features, including:

  • Live migration

  • Automatic recovery

  • Clean shutdowns and restarts

  • Accurate resource and IP reporting

⚠️ Important
Modifying or removing required system components may impact stability and support eligibility.

What Is Not Supported

For Windows VPS instances:

  • Customer-installed Windows

  • Bring-your-own-license (BYOL)

  • Unsupported or EOL Windows versions

  • Custom kernel or hypervisor-level changes

If you require unsupported configurations, a dedicated server may be more appropriate.

Summary

Windows VPS instances:

  • Are available on R3 plans and larger

  • Require FDCServers-provided licensing

  • Are installed manually by FDCServers staff

  • May take up to 72 hours to provision

  • Provide full Administrator access once delivered

Setting these expectations upfront helps ensure a smooth deployment experience.
